ABOUT US

The formative years from birth to 5 years of age are a critical time in forming basic personality traits. Our ability to love, trust and deal with other people and how we view the world and our place in it is established. Our sense of who we are begins to develop by the ways others respond to us. We need to have positive social interaction with other people. Our natural curiosity about the world around us needs to be challenged and stimulated. As children, we need to be able to express our natural creativity and imagination. Most important during those tender years, we need to find a sense of security, a sense of belonging and the assurance of being cared for and loved. Our centre is concerned with the growth and development of the whole child. Our educators are committed to the purpose of fostering a secure, friendly and stimulating environment. To recognise the unique qualities and dignity of each person, we aim to encourage a positive self-image and to help each child achieve his or her potential and to find ways using their abilities creatively.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Play’n’Around Early Learning we believe each child is a unique individual in their own right and that their special abilities, interests and cultural backgrounds should be the basis of our curriculum. We will work with families to provide high quality education and care within a warm, secure environment that promotes diversity and inclusion.

We believe in acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land, the Dharawal people and their language and all the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our community. We believe that the relationships each child has with their families and communities are the foundation for learning, and we will use those relationships to develop our curriculum and extend each child’s learning.

We believe in our staff developing partnerships with families and the community alike. We invite families to actively participate in the operation of the centre and provide feedback through continual communication with our staff.

We believe each child’s health, security and well-being underpins all learning experiences. We will promote exercise, good nutrition, sleep and rest periods. We will ensure each child feels love, security and a sense of belonging. Our outdoor and indoor areas engage every child in experiences which promote play and learning through stimulation of the senses in built and natural environments. We aim to make children aware of sustainability and the environment.

We believe that by giving the children the opportunity to connect with the land through a number of daily sustainable practises we are setting the children up to enable them to show respect for our land and continue this into the future.

At Play’n’Around Early Learning Centre we will endeavour to build upon the child’s self image, independence, belief in oneself and confidence in their well-being by fostering in each child a positive approach to their identity, with a sense of responsibility, self-discipline and self-esteem.

We will scaffold the education of development of each child as an individual who can grow his/her separate identity and qualities, yet still work and contribute constructively within a large group.

We will engage in ongoing reflection about our practices and procedures to drive continuous improvement and to ensure each child can maximise his or her learning opportunities, and as educators we value opportunities for professional development.

We believe that effective management is vital in ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment. We believe in management setting examples and standards to ensure that families receive the highest quality of service and care available.
